Court Orders Byron Holiday ‘Treehouses’ Shut Down

A couples retreat operator in Byron Shire has been ordered to stop using its “unlawful” cabins by the NSW Land and Environment Court.

Byron Shire Council filed a motion with the court to prevent the use of four buildings on a property at 333 Skyline Road, Middle Pocket, owned by Robert Wookey as the owner did not have development consent.

Holiday listings for the property, known as Treepod, Treehouse of the Pocket, show the cabins were fetching $350 a night on the site 16km north-east of Mullumbimby.
